Nemo Nano Elite Great Winter Tent

The Nemo Nano Elite is a 4 season tent suitable for up to 2 people. It is highly recommended by backpacking enthusiasts and real adventurous campers! It is made with non breathable nylon which is super light and using featherlite poles as well means that the overall weight of the tent is very small indeed. Not only that but it can be packed up really small and as one reviewer said “smaller than my helmet” – that is small!.

Although made with no breathable material it doesn’t have a problem with condensation. There is a large overhead vent that helps with ventilation and also a removeable mesh door.

The set up for this tent is fairly straight forward and quick although I get the impression that you need to be fairly strong when setting the poles in place as the tension on them is quite high.

Definitely the weight and packed size of this tent is its best feature for backpackers.

Any Negatives?

There is no option for a vestibule and so you just have the one space for putting everything in. However one review mentioned that there was plenty of room for 2 people and bags and shoes (maybe they were small…..).

One thing to mention is that the door opens from the bottom up and so if you leave a gap for extra ventilation mosquitoes can get in. I don’t know if there is a place near the top of the door where you can tie an insect repellant strip but if insects are an issue it is possible to buy sticky strips that you just stick to the tent material. I used these myself last time and they are very easy to remove when you pack up.

As for how well it handles the weather there are plenty of reviews by people who have used it during bad storms and they report no leaks and little or no condensation. So overall the Nemo Nano Elite gets the thumbs up!
